NSPE-MA invites you to join us in celebrating the ninth annual Professional Engineers Day with local colleagues as well as PEs around the world!

Today we share practical ways that you can help us continue to raise awareness about what it means to be a PE, recognize licensed PEs, and show appreciation for the work they do every day.

NSPE champions the PE license and protects its integrity to promote a constant focus on public health, safety, and welfare. Learn more about licensure and the steps to get and maintain your license.

Call for Applicants: MSPE 2024 Engineering Student Scholarship

MSPE is pleased to announce that we will award up to two (2) scholarships of $2,000 each in June 2024 to one or two candidates actively enrolled or accepted into an undergraduate ABET-accredited engineering program at a university or college for the 2024-2025 school year.

Eligibility requirements:

-) Candidate must be sponsored by an active MSPE member in good standing (Member # Required)
-) Candidate must be actively enrolled or accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college or university during the 2024-2025 school year (Verification required)
-) Applicants must either be studying at a MA University or a resident of Massachusetts

APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. ET

NSPE Coronavirus Considerations

As responsible professionals, the members of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the community of technicians certified under NSPE’s NICET programs understand the importance of holding paramount the public health, safety, and welfare. NSPE continues to monitor international, national, state, and local developments arising as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak and is taking all appropriate steps consistent with the guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to protect its employees, members, and other customers while maintaining the maximum level of operations in the performance of its services.

MA DHCD Seeks a PE to Serve on Designer Selection Committee

The MA Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) has asked MSPE to appoint a qualified candidate to serve on the DHCD’s Designer Selection Committee (DSC).

Nominee Requirements
-) Must be a MA registered engineer, with interest in affordable housing
-) Appointee and his or her firm is prohibited from providing services on any DHCD funded public housing construction projects
-) No potential conflict of interest (city employee, contracted consultant to city, no direct or indirect financial interest in any contract made by DHCD)

General Responsibilities of Committee Members
-) The appointment term is 2 years with the option of a second successive term
-) The DSC meets once per month, typically on the third Wednesday (1-2 hours)
-) Avg. meeting prep time varies from month to month depending on agenda
-) No financial compensation, but lunch is provided and parking reimbursed
-) Typical meeting actions include review and discussion of projects to be undertaken, review and discussion of the applicant design firms, selection of ranked lists of applicants for each project
