Team Massachusetts Earned Second Place out of 56 Teams at the 2024 National MATHCOUNTS® Math Competition

All 4 Students Scored in Top 25% as Individuals; One Placed Second Overall out of 224 Mathletes

May 2024 – Team Massachusetts placed second out of 56 teams at the National MATHCOUNTS Competition held from May 11-13 in Washington, D.C., adding to a proud history of Top 10 national-level finishes for Massachusetts.  All four students who represented Mass also placed individually in the top 25% of the 224 top mathletes from across the U.S. who advanced to the national event after more than 90,000 students competed in local and state contests.  Team Texas placed first, and California placed third.  VIEW FULL DETAILS

Call for Applicants: MSPE 2024 Engineering Student Scholarship

MSPE is pleased to announce that we will award up to two (2) scholarships of $2,000 each in June 2024 to one or two candidates actively enrolled or accepted into an undergraduate ABET-accredited engineering program at a university or college for the 2024-2025 school year.

Eligibility requirements:

-) Candidate must be sponsored by an active MSPE member in good standing (Member # Required)
-) Candidate must be actively enrolled or accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college or university during the 2024-2025 school year (Verification required)
-) Applicants must either be studying at a MA University or a resident of Massachusetts

APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 5, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. ET

Team Massachusetts Places Third in National MATHCOUNTS Competition

Team Massachusetts placed third out of 56 teams at the National MATHCOUNTS Competition from May 13-15 in Orlando, Florida – adding to a proud history of Top 10 national-level finishes for MA.

Each student “mathlete” also placed individually in the top 25% of the 224 best mathletes from across the U.S. who advanced to nationals after 90,000 students competed in their local and state contests.

The four students who represented Team Massachusetts are Nikhil Byrapuram (grade 8) from The Pike School in Andover; Christopher Cheng and Adam Ge (both grade 8); and Selena Ge (grade 7) from the Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington.

The team was accompanied by Coach Josh Frost of Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington and MSPE Director John J. Hayden, PE, State MATHOUNTS Coordinator and Senior Transportation Engineer at Stantec Consulting Services, Inc.
