Team MA Earned FIRST PLACE in the NATION out of 56 Teams at the 2025 National MATHCOUNTS® Math Competition
May 2025 – Team Massachusetts earned FIRST PLACE out of 56 teams at the National MATHCOUNTS Competition held from May 10-12 in Washington, D.C., adding to a proud history of Top 10 national finishes for Massachusetts. All four students also placed individually in the top 13% of the 224 top mathletes from across the U.S. who advanced to the national event after more than 90,000 students competed in local and state contests. Team New York placed second, and Team Washington placed third.
Team Massachusetts included Eric Huang (Grade 8) from R.J. Gray Junior High School in Acton, MA; Shlok Mukund (Grade 7) and Brandon Ni (Grade 7) from Clarke Middle School in Lexington; and Soham Samanta (Grade 8) from Greater Commonwealth Virtual School. The students were accompanied by Coach Josh Frost of Jonas Clarke Middle School in Lexington and MSPE Director John J.
