MSPE reports the passing of member Bob Golden
The Massachusetts Society of Professional Consultants is saddened to report the passing of Bob Golden, P.E. Bob was a long-time member of MSPE, holding offices at both the Chapter and State levels – including a term as State President. Bob was also called upon frequently at the National level by NSPE to assist in Task Force and Committee work.
MSPE was fortunate to have such an active member as Bob. He contributed to many varied activities over the years, but will be most remembered for his support to the MATHCOUNTS program – essentially from its inception. Bob headed up the Northeast Chapter operation very capably for over 20 years. In addition, he was a constant presence at the State Competition, filling any assignment handed out – proctor, registrar, test scorer.
Bob was always an outgoing volunteer; continuously advocating for MSPE and the importance of engineering careers to the MATHCOUNTS coaches and young competitors.
In his professional life, Bob was a 30-year employee of the Polaroid Corporation, but was forced to change careers when that company dissolved. He was reinvigorated with a new position at the U.S. EPA, where he led permit compliance inspections on industrial facilities throughout New England; working to protect the public health and water bodies of the region.
We will all miss Bob’s pleasant smile and demeanor and his dedication to his profession. He truly embodied the definition of a Professional Engineer.
