Register by July 25 for FE Exam Prep Course (Begins Aug. 1)
This is the LAST OPPORTUNITY to take this course, before the exam format changes in 2014.
The Massachusetts Society of Engineers (MSPE) is offering a Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination Preparatory Course, to support new and experienced engineers who plan to take the FE Exam on October 26, 2013. The course begins on August 1, 2013, and meets once a week for 13 weeks, on Thursday evenings from 5-8 p.m. at the CB&I office at 150 Royall Street in Canton, MA. The course cost is $725, which includes 39 hours of instruction and all course materials. Space is limited to 30, the registration deadline is July 25, 2013.

This marks the fourth year that MSPE will offer the course, which has proven successful in helping participants pass the FE Exam. This year is significant, however, in that it represents the last opportunity to take advantage of the prep-course instruction, because the FE Exam will no longer be administered in the current format after the October 2013 exam. In 2014, the exam will be a completely restructured, discipline-specific, computer-based testing (CBT) model, for which no proven test-prep materials have been developed.
Thomas Hulbert, Professor Emeritus of Northeastern University and an active Board Member of the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers, coordinates the course and was instrumental in its development. He notes, “This course supports engineers in reaching their goal of professional registration. At less than $20 per course-hour, it’s not only a bargain, but priceless since the exam format will change next year, with no proven prep-course available for those who miss this one.”
ABOUT the FE Examination:
The FE Examination is developed and administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing professional licensure for engineers and surveyors. The exam is the first step in the process leading to the Professional Engineer (PE) license. The exam lasts 8 hours and contains 180 multiple-choice questions, split into a morning session (120 questions) and an afternoon session (60 questions). The morning session is the same for everyone. For the afternoon session, test-takers complete the test module that corresponds to their undergraduate engineering degree (such as Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, or other disciplines). It is administered in April and October.
