In Memoriam: Al Marzullo, PE
MSPE fondly remembers our friend and colleague, Alfred “Al” Marzullo, PE, who passed away in March. Al served as MSPE President Elect from 2008-10, and we are grateful for his contribution to our profession and our Society.
His obituary is as follows: Alfred M. Marzullo January 13, 1947 – March 21, 2016
Alfred Michael Marzullo, of 1 Juniper Circle, Rockland, MA, died March 21, 2016 at Webster Park in Rockland, MA due to complications from PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). He is survived by his wife Cynthia Olsson Marzullo and his three children Jennifer Marzullo of London, England, Amanda Marzullo of Austin, TX and Jeffrey Marzullo of San Francisco, CA. Born in Jersey City, NJ on January 13, 1947 he was the eldest of four children of the late Alfred A Marzullo and Philomena Capuano Marzullo of Hamden, CT. He is also survived by siblings Robert Marzullo and Susan Williams of Hamden, CT and Jo-Ann Marzullo(Vaughan)of Billerica, MA as well as the mother of his children Carolyn Gaydosh of Chesire, CT. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Northeastern University, receiving his B.S. in electrical engineering in 1970. He opened Marzullo Associates, which provided mechanical and electrical engineering services, with his father in 1969. Based in New Haven, notable projects of the firm included the Norwalk Public Library and Platt Tech Regional High School. In the 1980s the business expanded to Boston and partnered with architecture firms Group One Inc and later The Khalsa Group. Projects included many hotels, care facilities and housing developments. He designed and oversaw the building of three homes, two in Woodbridge, CT on the site where his mother was raised and where he lived for over 25 years, and one in Goshen, CT. A registered Professional Engineer, he served as President of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Boston Chapter from 2005-6 and President Elect of the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers (MSPE) from 2008-10.
