Meet MSPE Member Michael Perrault, PE
Since 1992, Michael Perrault, PE has been the Principal of P.M.P. Associates, LLC Civil Engineering & Land Planning Consultants. He served as President of the Southeast Chapter of MSPE in the late 1970s and currently serves as an MSPE Director. Michael is also a Life Member in the American Society of Civil Engineers. He has answered the questions below, so we may know him better. Thank you, Mike, for your membership and contributions to MSPE and the engineering profession.
Q: Why did you join MSPE?
A: I joined MSPE in the late 1970s at the suggestion of a Professional Electrical Engineer friend. The Southeast Chapter members were fellow practicing professional engineers with various backgrounds. Membership in the Society provided both a social as well as a technical network.
Q: What are your goals as an engineer?
A: I set my initial engineering goal, which was to obtain my professional registration. That goal was achieved in the late 1970s. Technology at that time was advancing at a rapid pace and my career / professional goal was to continue to learn new technologies and how they can be applied in my civil engineering profession. In conjunction with the technology, my overall goal was to open my own engineering consulting firm, which I did in 1992, and it has been in operation since then. That allowed me the opportunity to mentor over 10 Northeastern University Co-op students.
Q: Please describe a project that you’re involved with.
A: I am involved with so many civil engineering related projects. One of the more interesting projects was the design of an outdoor Kart racing facility in East Bridgewater. The advanced Karts can travel up to 95 mph.
Q: How did you get involved with this project?
A: I got involved with the Kart track as a result of the initial design and permitting of the front portion of the property which included a mini-golf, batting cages and slick go-cart track.
